Raven from Rune

Rune wrote: "I have made the Raven and the Redbull from your drawings! I have scaled them down to wingspan (880mm Raven) and (800mm RedBull) and it works absolutely perfekt. The Redbull is an indoor favourite. it weights about 120-150g depending on setup. I use Axi 19g outrunner, 4g servo, 8A BEC and LIpo 7,4v 300-360mAh(22g). My friend Jimmy has made a version with two wings (biplane) and it is just beautiful in the air. Also an indoor plane. Your website and drawings have inspired me! Thank You very very much!!".

Christen Eagle from Peter
Peter wrote: "Thank you for the great plans! I have built a Christen Eagle. It looks great, flies great, makes lot of fun. My config for it is TP 1000KV BL motor with GWS 10x4,7 and 3cells 1000mAh. Not overmotorized but flies good

Extra 300 from Richard Parkes
Richard Parkes wrote: "I have completed making your Extra 300 design. Essentially following your design but with a few modifications. The final all up weight is 186 gram. Using a Typhoon 3/3D brushless motor with 650 mAh C15 7,4V LiPo and a Phoenix 10A ESC. 3x 3.7gram servos. It flies beautifully, my maiden flight was in 10 knots of breeze. It penetrated well, with lots of control. Hovers using less than 1/2 throttle. Aerobatics using very little throttle. Unlimited vertical when the throttle is fully open. A very nice design that I would rate higher than your ****.

Christen Eagle from Micha Roebbeling
Micha Roebbeling wrote: "Many thanx for the great plans. I build the Christen Eagle. It was a great pleasure building this plane. Everything worked perfekt. I flew it with a simprop magic speed and 3S1P 1200 Hacker Cells. It was phantstic, until another person used the same frequence. I was able to fix the damage and my christen is up in the air again.

Pitts Special from Michael Wiklund
Michael Wiklund wrote: "First of all I like to thank you for providing so many nice model plans. I built my first depron model from your Pitts drawing. I wanted a small plane for indoor use so I scaled it down to 50cm span. The canopy is made from a shrinked PET bottle. Spec.: 3 BMS-303 servos, home made CD-Rom motor, Apache AP-7A ESC, 2S1P Kokam 360mAh, total flying weight 140 grams. It flyes great.

Christen Eagle from Duane Orton
Duane Orton wrote: "I just wanted to thank you for really good plans, probably the best I've come across on the internet. I've built the Raven, Extra 300 and Christen Eagle they fly great and are nice and fast. I use ESC 25A, motor E-flite Park 370 KV=1080, lipo 11,1V/3S1P 1500mAh. They also fly well with a 7,2V/2S1P 1200mAh.

Christen Eagle from Greg Paull
Greg Paull wrote: "I recently built a christen eagle with the plans from your site and I am very pleased with the results! I enlarged the plans a little and enden up with a 35 inch wingspan and an AUW of 10.5 ounces without the battery installed. I used dental floss for the wing bracing and left the landing gear off so I can land on my lawn. Other than those modifications it is built to your plans. I had a little problem getting the center of gravity forward enough as I used an axi 2208/34 for power, which is pretty light. It needed allot of down trim, but even with the aft center of gravity it flew very well. I set up the ailerons on two channels and coupled them with the elevator for loops that can be done within two fuselage lengths! With the flaperons deployed it will fly at a walking pace. Very nice. The only problem that I have at the moment is with knife edge flight. I have to hold full up elevator to track straight in knife edge. This may have something to do with my aft center of gravity and I may try a heavier motor to see if it helps.

I've always wanted a christen eagle, thank you for the wonderfull plans!

Raven from Dorian Blanchet
Dorian Blanchet wrote: "It always fly very well and have a great succes with my friend in my RC Club. I have tested a lot of propellers for this plane with the AXi 2212/34 and now I rate for the APC Slow Fly 11x8. With this propeller the plane is fast and has as much trust it needs to make unlimited vertical, but it use 11,2A with a 3s1600mAh Lipo battery I can fly 20 minutes."

Extra 300 from Jefferson
Jefferson wrote: " I enlarged your original drawing to 1.00m wingspan, so I could fit a Speed 400 on it. It's so easy to get heavy while building planes, so I controlled everything using a spreadsheet and weighted everything I could. Even though the plane came to 530 grams (version 2.0, with a lot of adjustments and changes and also using two GWS Pico Servos), which is still fine for a speed 400 but not for the aerobatics I originally had in mind. Anyway, the plane FLEW! I got very happy with it. It is VERY VERY docile on air, more like a trainer. Had to put some downtrust and right thrust angles on the motor and I removed the rudder, since it has no function for the kind of flights I'm doing now. I'd like to thank you for the free plans!"

CAP 231 from Eric Bourlet
Eric Bourlet wrote: "I built a CAP231 using your plans. I flew it for the first time tonight. This is my first plane that has rudder and ailerons. I am using a Dual motor GWS IPS with the “A” gear turning a GWS 11x8 prop and powering it with 2 Kokam 1020 cells (I will try the E-Tec 700 and 1200s tomorrow). This plane is fun a bit faster than my Tiny-X and I love to point it up into the sky and hang it on the prop. Now that I have a plane with a rudder I am learning how to torque roll as it hangs on the prop. I was able to do a torque roll for about 20 seconds tonight before I fell out of it. Thank you for posting the plans to this plane."

Extra 300 from Bernd Zahn
Bernd Zahn wrote: "Hi Olaf, I have build the the Extra 300S. This is my first fun-flyer. I often fly it to the music. The engine is an Axi 2208/34 and a 9x3.8 prop. The battery are 2 Li-Poly 1500mAh. If I fly it to the music I use 3 Li-Poly 1200. Thanks you for the free plans."

Extra 300 from Cody Wilson
Cody Wilson wrote: "I finished building your Extra300.  It has a 800MM wingspan, EPS-300 powerplant with 6.60:1 gears developing 360 grams of thrust with an 1180 GWS prop.  Battery is a NIMH 720 8-cell.  I am using the GWS ICS-100 speed control.   I am only using three channels-aileron, elevator and throttle control.  All my radio gear and batteries are located under the wing .  Servos are mounted on the top of the wing in the fuselage.  My first flight was made at 2:45 in the morning under a street light.  I was surprised to find that it barely had enough power to stay in the air. Disappointed I went home and put the battery on the charger. The next morning with a fresh battery I took it out again.  WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! The airplane climbed to about 50 meters in the first few seconds-within moments I was doing aileron rolls and flying inverted.  With some down trim it was almost as easy flying inverted as flying right side up! I have about a dozen flights on it so far- I am very impressed with its flight capabilities.  It flays fast enough to be scary sometimes, and is responds very quickly to control input.  Loops are possible, but they are slow and awkward.  If it had more airspeed (dive or faster motor) I think it would loop very well. Flight duration is about 8-10 minutes.  I am very happy with my Extra, and will send pictures as soon as I get them. Thanks again for sending me the plans for the extra as I will be making more of them.  It is a great plane."

Stearman from Mike Young
Mike Young wrote: "Hello,I’ve built another of your planes and again I’m well impressed with it. Here’s a video of it http://www.rcflight.co.uk/videos/indoor-vids/stearman%20pt17.wmv . All my friends are now in the process of building them. The set up I used was twin `A` spec GWS motor/gearbox, 3 x 340mAh HD LiPo pack. I built it without rudder but I’ll be fitting a rudder before it flies again. Thanks for another brilliant design. I’ve made two of your Pitts previously, one at 600mm ws and one slightly smaller, they both flew very well also. The only difference to on my Stearman is that I used some strapping tape across the bottom of the lower wing just to brace it for doing loops. Other than that it is to plan but with a 630mm wingspan. Funny you should mention the CDrom motor, I’ve just received my magnets to redo mine, I’ll probably build another Pitts to use as a test bed."  www.rcflight.co.uk
